WCG Eligibility and Game Rules
All Players must be 13 years of age or older as of August 1st, 2010 and a resident of any state of the United States of America, the District of Columbia, or any Province of Canada (other than Quebec)
Participating players in Canada must have a valid form of identification with their date of birth and current home address, a valid passport, the possibility to obtain a tourism visa to the USA, and be able to travel to the United States as of August 1st, 2010. Minors under the age of 18 may participate in both the online and live components of the tournament, but they must receive expressed permission from their parents and/or guardians. Travel and accommodations will not be provided for parents/guardians that wish to attend the live events. Additionally all players must be Summoner Level 30 on the North American League of Legends server in order to participate on ranked ladders. Tournament Rules – Elimination Stages Map: Practice Mode Summoner’s Rift (Summer) Format: PREMADE5v5 Mode: Draft Mode Matches: Best of Three; The championship match will be a best of three series with the winner of the upper bracket holding a 1-0 advantage. The upper bracket winner needs only to win one match while the consolation winner must win two matches in a row. Maximum Roster Size: Five (5) primary players and two (2) alternate players for a maximum roster size of seven (7) players.
(A) Eligibility On August 2nd the top 1500 players will be posted on leagueoflegends.com. These players are the only players eligible to be included as members on a team for the elimination stages. (B) Registration Between August 4th and August 5th, 128 team slots will be opened for registration. A registration URL will be distributed to all eligible players. Team applications should be submitted by a team captain and will be reviewed for eligible members and complete information. No obscene team names will be accepted. After a team roster is submitted and confirmed, no further roster changes will be allowed. A team captain must have the consent of all members that he or she list on the team roster. Team captains that fail to obtain consent and are suspected of providing false or misleading information will be disqualified from the competition at the discretion of the Tournament Director. In the event that over 128 eligible complete team applications are submitted, then the tournament director reserves the right to expand the tournament by one additional round in order to accommodate the additional teams. (C) Tournament Procedure The first four (4) rounds of the tournament will be hosted in a best of 3 (bo3) single elimination format. This format will be used until there are 16 teams remaining. Matches for these rounds may be played at anytime once the team pairings are announced, but the default match day and time is listed below.
Match results should be sent to wcgna@leagueoflegends.com The remaining rounds of the tournament will also be played in a bo3 format. At this point the tournament changes into a double elimination format.
Bans will start with Team A and then proceed in a snake order. Picks will start with Team B and then proceed in a snake order. (E) Side Selection The team who does not receive first choice during the draft order will receive first choice on which side of the map they will start. (Left side team = blue = bottom map; Right side team = purple = top map) (F) Player lag or disconnections It is the responsibility of each player to ensure the quality and security of their hardware and internet connection. Players should test their connections and stop all downloads on their respective networks before beginning a game. In the event of a connection issue or disconnection, match play will continue without interruption. Team captains are not allowed to dispute a match on the basis of lag or a disconnection. If a player disconnects, then they can and should reconnect as quickly as possible. If a player cannot continue to the next match due to latency issues, then they must be replaced with an alternate player. If they cannot be replaced, then the shorthanded team will forfeit. (G) Server or game crashes If a server or game crashes and disconnects ALL players from BOTH teams, then that game is immediately concluded. The game will be replayed from the beginning unless the following condition is met: (If one team has a +2 ratio of inhibitors up, then that team will be declared the winner. Example #1: Team blue has destroyed 2 purple inhibitors while team purple has destroyed zero. Example #2: Team purple has destroyed 3 blue inhibitors while team blue has only destroyed one. (H) Substitutions Teams may substitute players between each game if they choose to do so. There is no limit to the amount of substitutions that can take place as long as the members are rostered. WCG US National Finals The top two teams from the online double elimination (i.e. the upper bracket winner and the consolation finals winner) will travel to the WCG US National Final in Los Angeles, CA and face off to determine the North American champion. The upper bracket winner will maintain a one game advantage over the consolation winner in a best of three series (i.e. the upper bracket winner needs only to win one game while the consolation winner will need to win two games). WCG Grand Finals The winning team will receive accommodations and travel to Los Angeles, CA to participate in the WCG Grand Finals from September 30th through October 3rd. Flights will leave on or around September 28th. Accommodations include 2-3 hotels rooms for the duration of the trip and airfare that will be booked for the winning team. Food tickets for catering services or a meal stipend will be provided by the WCG once players have arrived at the venue in Los Angeles. Assistance in obtaining visas or passports may be provided at the discretion of the WCG strategic partner Gameplay Restrictions None. Tournament Misconduct (A) Unsportsmanlike Conduct All in game chat is permitted as long as it is done in a sportsmanlike manner. All chat should nonetheless be kept to a minimum. Chat violations fall under unsportsmanlike conduct and may be disputed. (B) Use of Hacks or Exploits It is illegal to intentionally utilize any game exploits for the purpose of generating a competitive advantage. Officials have discretion to determine the intention and extent of the violation and Penalty Hacking in any form is considered a violation of these Game Play Rules and will result in immediate Player Disqualification and deletion of the offenders’ accounts. Hacking includes but is not limited to map hacks, unit hacks, or any third party program not deemed legal by an Official (C) Penalties for Misconduct Tournament Director may choose to penalize any form of misconduct conduct at his discretion.
