at 1600 elo, and people pick AD carry kind of often......

I used to think this was completely unviable, but we have lost to it 3 times now

Yep even in the scar we get Ezreals everywhere, although Ezreal was popular in the scar way before Sr teams popualrized it in classic, something about some mana buffs we didn't need thanks to the Aura :D.
