AP Mages are losing their place in League
 

Bruisers are stronger in lane than every champion type except themselves. They have higher base stats, better and more consistent trading ability, and so forth, part of the reason they can usually jungle but AP mages can't. The only reasons we put AP casters mid is because they had CC and mobility that allowed them to gank and to a lesser extent because a balanced team needed varying types of damage. But bruisers now have so much control and mobility, and with the inclusion of Black Cleaver and the ArPen changes, magic damage isn't super necessary either.

Recently, all AP are bringing to a team that can't be offered by someone else is magic damage, and frankly, that's not good enough. Bruisers and AD casters have as much if not more burst, as much control, and in many cases, more mobility.

AP casters are losing their place in League of Legends. They're becoming a frail, immobile liability. They don't scale as well into late game. Magic damage isn't enough. Soon, many if not most of them will cease to be used. It's already happening and it's really disappointing.

AP is the worst stat in the game. Has been for a very long time now. Season 3 only made it worse.

Completely agree. Burst casters got big nerfs when Riot decided to nerf deathcap, LB, void staff, and DFG all at once. Plus, with everyone stacking HP for cheap now, it's very hard to take someone out with just one combo, which is what most burst casters rely on.

Play utility or cleanup style AP's and you'll find they are still hella strong.

Anivia and oriana for huge utility and great damage
katarina/karthus for cleanup and map presence

New DFG gave a nice viability boost to heavy bursters like annie/veigar/syndra
New archangels gave a nice boost to tanky sustained ap characters like swain and ryze


They're less required but still plenty strong.

Strongest bruisers does not bring nearly the amount of utility the strongest AP carries have.

utility mages are boring though
new dfg is a noobtrap btw just getting void staff will add more damage to every target rather than the just one of dfg

Toyz plays utility mages like everyone else
