A Case for Creating More Skilled Players
This morning I did a solo ranked queue and a thought occurred to me. I have been attempting to become a better top player. Now, I'm not saying I'm good. I'm just a run of the mill silver ELO player, but it has been hard increasing my skills and mechanics. When it comes to solo queues it always seems to be a free for all. In my game this morning, three people called top within the first second of the banning phase. So I think I have a solution.
When entering queue there should be an option to select what role you want to play. The matchmaking system could then put 5 people together that all wanted different roles. By doing this players could work on what role they want, without having to compete within their team.
The only downside to this that I can think of is that there would potentially be longer queue times. However, it means having a more fluid banning phase without any hurt feelins (i.e. "OMG I WANTED MID. WTF. I CALLED IT") I think the extra time in queue would be well worth the wait.
Let me know what you think. I'd love to see if this idea has any merit.
