The term support doesnt have a place in dominion, but "support" champs do.

there is no support in dominion.

support champs are build for dmg instead.

sona and jana go ad
taric does tanky
karma, zil, soraka goes ap
kayle goes as/ad

~ soraka/sona/jana viable for bot lanes
~ taric is viable on a melee heavy team. otherwise, use sion instead
~ karma is not viable. too dependent on mantra charges. dominion gameplay is simply too quick for her and she doesnt regen mantra fast enough
~ kayle/zil viable, but has a hard time early-game

in Pugs, I've been playing Sona and find with a starting Sheen and immediate proc (cuz you sit and cast) I go top and hold it once we take it.

It seemed OP with her heals and early speed boost to set it up. But I thought maybe this was just a pug strat that worked well, and wasn;t really viable in high ELO style play.

I have had great success with my Aura Tank Taric, Great for duo queue with Vayne & High AD team comp, Due to Armour Debuffs.

Heal + Exhaust
Kindlegem + boots + 2 hp pots + 2 mana pots
Boots of Mobility

Varying build depending on team comp and enemy team comp.

Starks Fervor
Aegis
Frozen Heart
Soul Shroud
WOTA
Spirit Visage <- good if you're dishing out heals + MR
Hextech Sweeper

Works great for AD Attack Speed champs, ie Vayne & Xin. Rushing Starks helps them out so much.

The build order and item build varies everygame.

Enemy Vayne or Trynd -> Rush Frozen Heart
Enemy Stealthers -> Hextech Sweeper
High Enemy Magic Damage -> Rush Aegis

AP Carry doing well -> Soul Shroud + Will Of The Ancients


TLDR: Dynamic build depending on Enemy & Team, Armour debuff, Aura's FTW

Due to the Crystal Scar Aura, there is a LOT of armor pen inherently, so early game ADs are very strong.

Mantheon anyone?

The frequency of team fights and the ability to quickly heal up in spawn and get back in the action make the comparably slow heals of a typical support champ unnecessary. That said may of them can build into a viable dom champ as Larkhill suggested. Some of them can be extremely helpful in a dom game when played right (especially in a defensive setting or with a zone control champ like himer.)

no. try AP + CDR (DFG)... AD sona maybe in some scenarios, but definately not AD janna.

early game, the dominion aura will usually give you less than 2 armor pen if you play someone who already has arpen runes and you are targetting a squishy, like you should.

mid and late game tho, it becomes much better, especially when combined with a LW and the mastery, for a total of 52% arpen iirc.
