Why do teams that crush the other team say "well played"
 

Don't even give me that nonsense that they're talking about their own team.

Its called sportsmanship.

I understood the first two words in that sentence, but what is that mysterious third one? I seem to not recognize it.

The gg thing I get.

The "well played" thing when we end a game 3-21 with no towers taken and the game ended in a surrender at 20 minutes? If someone finds that well played, they must not win a lot.

Ever since these ribbons have been out and about, I've been seeing this every game. It doesn't feel like sportsmanship at all.

You're right maybe they should say something like ''GG easy'' or GG nubs'' I mean would you prefer that?

Nobody's mad and you know that's not even what the thread is about.

Surprise: You can play well but still lose.

It's honestly the same thing, to me at least. If you utterly destroy someone in a match and say "well played", you're telling them that they played well when EVERYONE knows they didn't play well at all.

At least "gg easy" is honest.

Why so butthurt about it?

Well played IS indeed mentioned in other sports even when one side may have seem to have played or preformed poorly.
