Reviews Wrap-Up for League of Legends
 

Since the start of Pre-Season on October 27th, League of Legends has gotten reviewed by the top video game review sites. If you're as big a fan as I am, you have been tracking the reviews, but we wanted to provide a recap with the reviews from the top US sites in one place.

That’s a lot of reviews. There are a lot more not on this list (those from non-US sites, and those from smaller sites), and I’ll admit that I just pulled the best quotes from the articles.

We’re going to continue to work on the game, and hopefully build even more critical acclaim as we add more content and features to League of Legends. I just wanted to thank everyone who helped LoL get the attention from the gaming press last year, and continue to help us make League of Legends an awesome game.

good to see LoL getting publicity :)

I like LoL, but to be fair it's not for everyone. There are a few bad reviews out there, but that's to be expected with this sort of game.

so the consensus is an 8.

i think the problem is a lack of pick modes, maps, and problems with matchmaking. if it had those, it would probably scored 8.7ish, it's a fun game though.

It's also important to get publicity further down the road, too. Events like the snowdown showdown make sites like Kotaku take notice, and draw further attention. Simply having a good opening is not good enough. But yeah, good publicity so far, but needs more publicity still. I'd be interested to know how the in-store sales did as well.

I also agree with that. A solid start, just needs MORE. :P

LOL when I checked out metacritic I noticed this review:

gamespots score is utterly unfair, and evidently uninformed. The game informer one is harsh but fair.
On metacritic there is a link to a 5/10 from boomtown, which is utterly unfair and riot might want to contact about the opening statement which is that from what the reviewer is told, LOL is a clone of dota with new graphics.> he was obviously told about hon and shouldn't post such stuff unless he played dota.

I just love how the vast majority of the user comments on Metacritic are positive.
And then you get that one dude who gives it a 1 and says "this game sucks play HoN" >.>

But, uhm, that boomtown review does worry me. Some of the points I agree with, but it seems like he knows very little about the actual game? Like... at all? And how does an 8/7/7/5 give a final score of 5?
