hahaha I understand your point and I respect it. altho I must say I disagree. it's strange, but actually I've observed the exact opposite of what you are describing: the original champions all have one specific role, while all newer champions have hybrids, come complicated set of abilities. lets take a look at some original champions: annie is pure mage AP, allistar is pure tank, tryndamere is full AD autoattacker. now lets take a look at some newer champions: orianna is a support/caster hybrid, vayne does multiple types of damage, maokai is a mage tank, yorick is... i dont even know what he is...

oh also there's the tanky dps's. like a bagillion of em.

This a really good thread full of some solid discussion.

We're going to discuss how to be more cognizant of effective nerfing to the right areas and not to kill off-builds if possible. Things like Vamp Vlad and Locket Gragas will still be hit, but things like AP Ezreal and Tank Gragas will be treated with more respect.

There is a old saying Sly, Better Late then Never. and another is Don't Look a Gift Horse in the Mouth. If Riot says they are going to try to treat off builds with more respect, let's thank them for it, instead of bashing them about how long it took.
