I see the "We are hiring!" banner every time I look at the LoL website, and it makes me wonder what all the people at Riot actually majored in. I consider applying for a couple of the positions available (jeez there are a ton!), but I don't want them to say "She may know what she's doing, but does she have the experience we're looking for?". I haven't worked in games before. I'm a software engineer, but my previous experience is in real-time systems. I do know a few programming languages, but not Ruby (sadface). I have worked with RHEL and Oracle at my last job.

There are just so many things that they say they'd like to have, and I feel a little overwhelmed. I would hate to be rejected. I guess all of the Riot people come from a lot of experience... I wouldn't even mind working at the very very bottom. It's fun just to be part of something that you love!

What do you guys think the people at riot have degrees in? Do they come in with all the experience that the job descriptions request? Is that just how it is when you want to work for a well established company that has basically their pick of any employees they could want?

My bachelors is in interactive media. There are a wide variety of degrees and specialties here though.

They've posted about some of the backgrounds some of the people have had.

They have people with no college degrees. Psych degrees, computer science, they have one guy who worked on a nuclear submarine (I think as a nuclear engineer, not sure)

From what they've said it's a pretty diverse background with only one real thing in common - they're pretty much all gamers, and they have something they're really good at
