Because some of those titles are really glorified versions of the layman's terms.
like...
community manager = forum admin
QA = quality assurance = game tester (associate means fairly low ranked to boot)
player support specialist = complaint reader.
production assistant = go to gopher for administrative work (this requires intelligence actually since you have to be flexible and able to accomplish different task sets. but it does boil down to you do whatever someone important tells you to do.)
Game Designer = pretty interesting. its based on talent on that task and creativity rather than your actual degree. my old GD boss was a history major though and he said that helped in creativity and pool of knowledge, but it is based on straight creativity and talent at game design.
