I reccomend using a matchmaking algorithm, not random pick and choose. Although one may be easier, lower levels may have difficulty facing level 30s. Two games in a row, I've faced level 30 enemies in a solo 5v5 queue. I'm level 12. This isn't the first two times it's happened.

I'll tell you spread levels here: 12(me) 15 12 15 12 vs 13 12 2 9 30.

Now, I would like to know which algorithm in existance would create such a poor lineup. Its illogical.

I sincerely reccomend improvements or you might end up pushing new players away from this game.

Edit - I was a little ticked, so removed the riothate

This is what we do. Matchmaking is based on your Elo rating.

that 30 was probably queued with at least one of the 2 or 9, possibly both of them...

The question then becomes in cases of such level disparity in queue partners, how should they be matched, if you match them in higher level play, they ***** about have level 2s and 9s in their game, if they get matched in low level play, they complain about a 30 in their game, and if it gets matched inbetween, they complain about both!

But no one in my team was queued with anyone, so it would be illogical for a completely random team to get matched with an arranged team. Thats besides the point though - I dont mind fighitng higher levels once in a while but two matches in a row gets quite frustrating when they not only have a skill advantage, but a mastery and rune one aswell.

Edit:

Specifically, I was referring to this:
Updated matchmaking to make level 30s matching with non-30s rarer. from patchnotes 1.0.0.121

I would assume rarer meant less frequent but it just happened twice in a row. I'm only a little frustrated :P

QQQQQQQQQ. Two full games? Oh no! I'm honestly surprised you got a response at all after blatantly bad mouthing riot and their employees in the op.

It happens. Match making is based on ELO and averages. People queue together and it can make things a little strange, especially seeing how a level two player is more of less completely unranked. (imo, this really is honestly unfortunate thing, as a level two who make sure he is NOT feeding is more than made up for with a level 30 outplaying everybody else with his/her experience.) It's not like you can restrict friends from playing with each other. =P But you can see how this makes it a bit more complex, league is a team game and there is a lot of things that are difficult to, or can't necessarily be accounted for. I CAN promise you though, that this annoyance does improve greatly at higher levels of play. So just keep your chin up, and keep at it. Enjoy yourself, LoL is truly an awesome game.

Not that this is exact justification (as level and ELO are completely different things), but look at your teams. You are all around level fourteen while they have a level two and a level nine. Notice that both your team averages to the same level, (13.2.).

P.S. You do realize that "rarer" and "less frequent" are, in fact, synonymous right? I mean hell, 9/10 is LESS FREQUENT than 10/10. Just hang in there until you are at a level of play with a bit more balance and let match making do it's thing.

Update: Just had another game with these levels

my team: 13(me) 14 12 12 14 vs 15 20 15 14 16.

Interesting how their lowest level is our highest level. Plus we had 2 feeders in our game. I tried my best to help my team mates but it was hopeless..but this game wasn't too frustrating. I'm just amused at the level differences. Even if Elo came into play, the fact is that even one level advantage in this game can change the battle (runes and masteries are huge!)

Also Olph, I calculated the average and its not even - its about 9 points off.

Level means absolutely nothing in the way they calculate matches. It's based on Elo so if yours is the same as a level 20 or 30 then the rune and mastery difference can't exist, or they would have a higher elo. Basically they're bad enough to cancel out any benefit they have from being higher level. I also don't think being a premade team has any huge affect on who you play other than increasing your teams elo, but I could be wrong about that. Plenty of times i've been in a solo queue with 4 other people on my team who were together.

Well the problem I found with my team was that there were 2 team mates (leona and kat) who just..fed the team. Repeatedly. I mean I can understand it if both teams have that, but no one on their team was /that/ bad. Also, it appeared their overall score was better too, but I might be mistaken. Oh well whats done is done.
