One fateful Monday, a group of Rioters got together to go to lunch. There were a few new people in the group and the conversation came up of "the nerdiest thing you did this weekend." We were all pretty pleased with what we did, and what WAS a self-pity party became a competition. Throwing our nerd cards on the table, as we called it.
Nick claimed "I watched a marathon of Star Trek The Next Generation" and proceeded to explain the synopsis of which involved cyborgs, Wil Wheaton, wives and faked deaths. Or something.
Nerd Card, thrown down.
It happened to be the week that I got back from LeakyCon, a Harry Potter convention. Boy, did I have stories. I picked one, "My friends stood in line for 3 hours to attend a panel for the stars of a Harry Potter musical, moderated by a man who, from the waist down, had on a centaur outfit."
(That same fellow plays LoL, by the way. We're friends now.)
A new fellow to the team countered that he had spent $200 at a local nerdy bookstore on indie pen and paper RPG books. We almost let him win.
Our first game of Nerd Cards was successful. I ask this on my Twitter sometimes, and as it's a Monday, the time is nigh.
What was the nerdiest thing you did this weekend? Throw 'em down.
