Hmm, I wonder if IronStylus is a fan of Gary Larson's work...

In life we often measure only what we want to measure and not what's truly there.

The glass is now in a vacuum.

What do you say to that, philosoraptor?

Aww. You could learn a lot from him, though. (Not saying you're bad, though. You're good. But, you know, for funny champs...)

It depends whether or not I am adding water to the glass, or drinking it. If I'm adding water, it's half full, as I'm in the process of filling it. If I'm drinking it, it's half empty, as I'm emptying it.

Yeah, I... I know, but... I love Gary, and it's late, really late, and I'm hungry... and... sigh.

I would measure the maximum capacity of the glass and then calculate how much of its volume is filled and then give you a %-based answer of how much of the glass is empty or full.

Asking me to tell you whether it's empty or full just by staring at it is dumb, especially when fluids are. It might be 49% full or 49.999% full or 50.0001% full. How the hell am I gonna tell that just by staring at it? And no, it can't ever be assuredly exactly 50%.

... But for the purposes of this topic I chose
Where's my cheeseburger?!
Since I don't give a **** about outlook-based perception of full or empty. What a trivial question.

If you really want to think about it, the glass is always full....air takes up space too.
