Dear Ames.

When do you think that one of your fellow employees in the champ model/skin department will fix the "You can see his tongue inside his mouth while he is in a bush" Blood Fury Renekton glitch?

Uh maybe. It's possible. Possibly probable. What was the question? I think I'm doing this wrong

The retardation in this thread is almost palpable. Saying GG after a game if someone disconnected is not disrespectful or a taunt or rude or anything. Saying **** like "GG noobs" is a completely different story.

You speak about sports, but what did you do after every soccer/football/baseball/softball/etc game even if you did get horribly stomped? You lined up highfived or shook hands with the entire enemy team saying GG. It doesn't mean hahahaha i'm better then you, it means you gave it your best and came up short. But you never stopped trying. That's what GG means to me.

Off topic, but the name comes from a character I had when I played WoW. The name was longer than 'Ames', but eventually it got shortened to it, and when I server transferred I went ahead with the new name. It's stuck ever since. Also, the reference to 'RiotGames' makes me chuckle.

edit:

On topic: I don't think 'gg' is rude, and I've never had a bad reaction to it. 'gg noobs' or something similar is a different matter entirely, but if they said that without the 'noobs' part, it'd be just as insulting, right?

Obviously you never played a sport as a kid... because ever team game I played, baseball and football, we always said GG as the end whether we won or lost...
When I boxed, we touched gloves at the end of the fight, when I wrestled, we shook hands at the end...
It's called sportsmanship and it builds character that serves many uses IRL outside the game....

People keep saying this kind of thing, but if one of the teams had been missing four players, would the other say "good game" after winning?

No offense, but you need to lighten up. People (presumably) play this game for fun, and if you had fun playing then I don't see anything wrong w/ saying gg. It's become a staple of internet games at the end of most games, and if you really want to connect it to real life, little kids still line up after a lot of games they just played and go down the line saying good game to the other team.

If you are playing in a tournament I can see how people might see it differently, but for any old game, even ranked, odds are you're playing for fun, so lighten up and actually enjoy the game.

We lined up and shook hands. It sucked if we lost. Especially if we lost hard. But you know what? The other team played well. So, we showed our respect by acknowledging that. And if we won? No reason to stomp them while they're down. So we told them 'good game', and maybe next time they'd beat us.

I'm always surprised to see people so upset over people saying 'gg' at the end of a game. If it was a really good game, I'll usually say so. 'gg, wp, that was a lot of fun' or something. If someone disconnects on their team? 'gg, sorry for your disconnect'. Just because they had a disconnect doesn't mean that I need to say they played badly.

Everyone is welcome to their opinion here. Personally, in all my time playing real games or online games, I've always said gg. I feel it's better than saying nothing at all, and considerably better than verbally abusing whoever I just played against. Your mileage may vary.
+1

"gg" means good game, yes, but it does NOT mean "this was one of the most fun, exhilarating, fair, and balanced games I've ever had, and both teams did an excellent job". If I wanted to say that, I'd say that (probably less wordy though ). When I say "gg" it's just to acknowledge the other team - it's the verbal equivalent of a nod at that classmate that you've seen once or twice but never really talked to.
