Sorta.. I had jokingly proposed the idea to a few people a few months back and, to my surprise, a number of people, including Morello, got behind the idea. I skeptically asked our lead on the skins team if I could do a Leona skin concept, and he said that as long as I took the initiative to do the concept and mockup that it would be possible. This both delighted and humbled me.
Once I had done a concept, the first image you see on my blog, it was approved by the right people. After the green light, I produced the mockup of the skin, the front and back views of Leona that you see on that page. This then was taken to model, which I did not work on really, aside from doing a bit of texture polish on. While the rest of the team, animation, particles, etc, were working on her model, I worked on the splash art with a lot of help from Knockmaw and the other splash artists.
So, I was allowed a LOT of creative freedom on this project. I am both humbled and honored by the fact that Riot let me create something that I had a large emotional investment in. But in the end, they believed in the idea enough to let me try and make something that had mass appeal. I hope I achieved that for them.
As of the last few days, yes, I've been playing nothing but that particular skin =)
In terms of things in my desk area relating to Leona, I still have the "Disney" version of her that I did as my desktop!
