There is nothing in the DD-WRT that is League of Legends specific for application priority in the QoS tab. I imagine Riot can give us the specific settings to make it ourselves (that is possible in DD-WRT) or you can just give your computer full priority over all network traffic which is set by MAC address. Of course if your computer is creating the network problem, then it will still persist. You cannot go wrong for only 40 bucks or so for a new router anyway. Hell, I may pick that up if it is only 40 bucks and provides Wireless-N. My router is like 7 years old and I've been using DD-WRT for several years.

Well, at this point I am pretty much willing to do anything that will fix the problem. I've tried so many things for the course of months now on and off that I am just clueless on what is wrong.

If there's anything I can setup in settings to help me out, I would love to know. I am not really network-knowledgeable, so bare with me if I don't understand some things

Hi LeCam,

These results should work fine:

As you can see from the analysis.
Network background health measurement (?): 4 transient outages, longest: 4.6 seconds
During most of Netalyzr's execution, the applet continuously measures the state of the network in the background, looking for short outages. During testing, the applet observed 4 such outages. The longest outage lasted for 4.6 seconds. This suggests a general problem with the network where connectivity is intermittent. This loss might also cause some of Netalyzr's other tests to produce incorrect results.

In laymen's terms this just means that your internet died 4 times during the test for about 4 seconds. In game, this would manifest itself as 500PING and your champion not responding to commands for 4 seconds. Potentially followed by the game "racing to catch up" as I like to call it.

As for the fix, the best thing would probably be to just call your ISP. In situations like this, they typically are the only ones that can help you. I had a similar problem once and it turned out to be a busted cap where my cable came into my house. Because the error only pops up sporadically, they'll likely need to run some type of extended test. It might not show up at all during a short 2 minute test.

If they refuse to or can't fix it, I'd recommend just swapping ISPs. If you can find a 2Mb/s connection or better from a rival ISP I'd say go with them.

Sorry I couldn't have better news. I would suggest other things but you have done an excellent job of covering all other possible causes(torrents, viruses, etc, etc).

I found this googling around. I am going to give this a try tonight to see if it makes a difference for me. I do get the very rare lag spike but it is ISP related. I currently prioritize my gaming rig versus all others but will change it to service based and test this out. http://na.leagueoflegends.com/board/...d.php?t=611680

It says UDP ports 5000-5500 and I hope that has not changed. Maybe a Red can confirm.

Edit: Let me add that you want to speed test your ISP first and use 80-90% of your upload and download values and not the exact speeds shown on the speed test when setting up QoS.

Thanks, Brent.

I'll try to get the tech guys over here a 4th time and explain the problem a different way.

Do you have a suggestion for a new ISP? Keep in mind I've already tried to get Verizon FIOS, Comcast, and a higher connection upgrade with my current ISP. All are unavailable and will only be available "in the future". That's what I've been told and I have no idea how long I'd have to wait.

Comcast, Verizon FIOS, more than turbo Time Warner are all available only in Houston or around there. That's what they told me when I was talking to them about their services. I've been told to keep away from AT&T, so I don't know any other ISP's I can go to. Any info would be nice!

Random question..

Would my ISP still come if I explain that my connection ONLY has problems when I play a computer game? I mean, the connection itself is fine on its own, I only experience lag or random disconnections when I play legends. Would they take it seriously still if I told them I was having problems because of a game?

That's mostly why their last visits were kind of a waste, because they couldn't really find anything wrong with my connection. The tech guy came over and asked if I've been disconnecting or if my internet has been acting up. I told him I have been disconnecting and my internet shuts off randomly. My luck though, my connection seemed to be perfectly fine when he was there. At the time I thought it was just my connection, but now after all this time, I've come to find out my connection ONLY messes up when I play Legends.

Basically all I've told them is that my connection drops and I disconnect and it hasn't been stable. This, again, is before I knew what was the cause of my disconnections/lag. What other ways should I tell them to help them understand more?

Edit: I don't want it to seem like I'm blaming you guys for this, Riot. I'm not trying to. I could simply just be ignorant and oblivious to other obvious causes. I <3 you guys and will continue supporting you. Just gets frustrating

Thanks! I'll look into this.

Edit:

When I get to "QoS" page, I get this. Is there anything I can put in here to help? I have no idea what any of it means and it had numbers put in it, I just erased them via paint because I'm not sure if they were safe to show or not

I do not know anything about that particular router or the meaning behind all of those values. Your ISP may be able to help you and I am sure that page is intended for their use only.

Edit: That is for WiFi and not for the overall network usage. That page does basically nothing for you. Look into another independent router like I linked above.

Hey, could it be your network card/motherboard?
Its likely that its having problems.
I would suggest purchasing a good network card(one of those that actually run linux if you want smexier ping!), and then returning it if the problem isn't fixed

Is there a for certain way to determine if I have a bad network card/motherboard?

Wouldn't my network/motherboard be okay since the ONLY time I have problems is when I'm playing Legends?

When I'm browsing, watching streams, or whatever I'm doing, I don't experience any lag. I don't disconnect, my speed isn't slow, and I don't have any signs of problems. It literally only happens when I play Legends.
