It's personal utility, not team. Frankly, super DPS characters shouldn't be bringing control to the team as well.

Riot didn't define classes very well in the past.

Some champions have tags that aren't as accurate as they used to be. Gangplank used to always get Infinity Edge and hit like a brick with Q.
Did you now reveals, traps, and debuffs used to be considered support? Twisted Fate used to be tagged as a support. Teemo still is a support according to the tags.

Riot's done quite a bit in cleaning it up though.

SIOOONNNNNNNN. JAXXXXXXXX Both melee carrys. Old jax with his 15% extra damage from items

well back when gp was a worthless bag of squish he was pretty melee carry. because he didn't really do much else besides snipe off his own minions and /l before he'd feed.

i miss when gangplank was terrible. he was hilarious. bank on the game lasting to 55+ minutes and start one shotting squishies with parley

To be honest, I just hope her damage is good.

Dunno how well she'd do with the recommended build, but it sounds solid.
