How amusing. I didn't actually think my comment would warrant a response from anybody, least of all you. If you have such pride in the community then what does my negative and clearly biased opinion of the game matter?

Besides, my logic stands. Another community being good or bad really doesn't have any bearing on this community being good or bad. Perspective is knowing I'm playing LoL, so what does the community for Team Fortress 2 or World of Warcraft or Some Random Online Game Named Here have anything to do with how LoL'ers behave and treat each other in LoL?

Nothing.

My point is proven by simply navigating to leagueoflegends.com and browsing the forums. My point is proven by queuing into a game with the intention of just trying to have some fun playing a round of SR.

So I find this thread to be oddly self serving in the face of what happens to be a curious contradiction: This community is cancerous and in dire need of Riot to coerce them back toward more acceptable behavior, both on and off the forums. Hell, if it makes you feel better Morello, you can go ahead and shoot me a ban if you'd like, as I don't exactly stand as a shining example of all that is "good" about the LoL community. I'm on my way out anyway since I've been hooked up with the DotA 2 beta, so it's all the same to me if you don't.

If anybody cares, I'm not the least bit offended by your post or asterisks or whatever word they may or may not be censoring. I do appreciate that you took the time to jab me back, as I did have it coming for knocking your game.

Whether or not I've behaved like a group of four asterisks is up to interpretation, all I did was point out a logical fallacy and make a rather subjective remark on what my perspective of the game/community is.

I don't expect you to have the patience of a saint, I'm more level headed than that. However, I do expect you to do a bit of a better job convincing me and other doubters about what actually is good about the LoL community.

Something that goes beyond, "Hey, look at the guys over there and how unruly they are!" Now maybe I'm taking your OP too literally...

Or maybe there is something seriously wrong on the home front that can't be waived off just because I'm being rude about pointing it out.

Finally, someone who is educated enough to get the point across.

This community is garbage. And not just from trolling (which there is FAR too much off, especially on the forums), smack talking (in game), offensive behaviour, but also from sheer stupidity and the fact that Riot doesn't punish people for being blatantly stupid (stupid item builds).

It really has gone down hill since about maybe 2-3 patches after Sona was released.

And yes, the worst part is the fact that Riot says "oh, it's ok, this game community isn't nearly as bad as XXXX"

Newsflash, nobody cares about XXXX, we are playing THIS game, and THIS games community is a serious issue which is slowly killing itself. Just ask any person with less than 20 games under their belt. (Smurfs don't count)

EDIT: DAMMIT I CANNOT UPVOTE THE GUY ABOVE ME ENOUGH!!!

This is a matter of opinion. I'm sure the first people to try AD sona or ad ahari or any other "not typical" build. Experimenting with builds isnt trolling. (and im talking about actualy experimenting not buying 6 boots, but i digress)
And in any game and any game community period you will have people talk ****. Just because the couple of people that you see didnt get banend for doing whatever it was they did to upset you doesnt mean the millions of others didnt get punished.

tl;dr because someones opinion is different then yours doesnt make it a troll.
Just because you dont see punishments happening doesnt mean its not going on

I love Team Fortress 2, but this issue is a classic "piling on" example, where you solve a problem through an associated design, which solves one problem and spawns multiple new ones. We actually did this in Guild Wars 1 a lot too, and it's something to be really careful about.

Additionally, the Medic is actually a fun, satisfying support class - ubercharge is a major piece of that. But when you ask why I hate dedicated healers (classes who's primary job is to make health go up), this is why. In order to make a dedicated healer fun and satisfying, it has to be the most important character in the game. There's a ton of other associated problems like balancing DPS/Heals and DPS without heals, (healer requirement ala WoW or other MMO's), lasting impact of actions and attrition, and encouraging dynamic play.

Support is great, but dedicated healers do not work in PvP, team-based games. While you can make them fun to play (and there's an audience there), it's not worth the damage it does to the game.
You worked on Guild Wars !!? Well suddenly all the brokenness of certain duo class combos makes sense now!

You gonna be playing guildwars 2? Still got any friends at Arena net?

No see that's where you're very wrong. Some champions can be played with different item builds, for example if you're Janna bot lane, getting a sheen to harass with is perfectly fine and actually quite viable.

But if you build AD items on Ahri, who has no business having ANY AD items period. (she is a mage, with spells that deal magic damage, maximising that damage is the only proper way to play a mage. That is not even up for debate, and if you try and argue that point then you are an idiot and a very big part of the problem - This isn't dota, you can't stack claws of attack on witch doctor to go for a meledict kill early.)

People's opinion has nothing to do with sheer logic.

And as for not seeing punishments, that is not what I said, what I said was that trolling is tolerated by the community moderators. THIS is the problem.
Trolling is toxic to ANY game, and only leads to more stupidity.

I never once said it upsets me, but it does make me cringe at the incredibly low level of intelligence shown by a vast majority of people that play this game and troll.

It really does make me pity this generation, and embarrassed to technically be a part of it.

This is a much better post - let me talk about my intent.

Simply, as a forum-goer (without the magic Red tag that gets differing treatment, both good and bad) in several other games, I found the communities much more caustic. This is my experience, and it simply reminded me that the internet is reasonably rough all over, and not just our neck of the woods.

I do think the more transparent back-and-forth has, at least, created a better dev/player relationship, and I value that. That's something I found very wanting when I was a poster in some other communities, and I just smiled a little.

We do have a problem with not rewarding GOOD player behavior well enough, and this is a major initiative. The game can be a lot of fun, but if the other players push you away, it can make it really hard to enjoy.

Now that the fickle league drama will be over in 3 1/2 hours.

Who's your favorite Final fantasy XIII character?

If It's hope I might have to go XJ9 (Annoying) on you.
