Just a quick thought, before I started working in the industry I spent a *lot* of time modding games.

Best one to mod? Still Warcraft 3 or use anything that uses the Unreal engine.

But start with mods on War 3 (maybe even have a tinker with SC2?) it's very simple to use and can customize almost anything related to the game if you can find it

Good luck on your dreams!

I used to run a d2 realm, i will never want to be a staff here since the community here is horrible, maybe cuz the community is way too big or maybe it's too much for the staffs to deal with?

op wants to be a game designer?
What's so fun to become a game designer here?
"omfg op this, op that?" "nerf that nerf this?" "buff omfg buff?"
These teenage virgins here are way too annoying and stupid.

When u make a thread in GD, they just come to your thread downvote ur post and post ****s. They have nothing better to do instead of trolling on this forum 24/7.

You can't get rid of trolls, you ban their accts, they just make new ones, you ban their ip, they just change their ip.

If you want to learn how to design games, this is the best route.

As for getting a job, you'll need to figure out what makes you better than everyone else for the position and build on that.
This is a fantastic route. Another is to get into entry-level positions (maybe, say, QA at a major publisher) and learn from smart people around you. This is how I broke in, and that's even without a college degree!

These are the sort of comments you have to ignore,

If you are truly interested in getting a better knowledge of game design do it because you want to make a truly interesting game you think is great
