I can't find an explanation on why riot changed ward behavior in the latest patch notes. I want to know their reasoning behind this change, because it makes no sense to me. I would really like to see this change reverted.
For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about:
Old behavior:
-When a ward is placed it is visible and fades to semitransparent and then turns invisible.
-If the ward becomes visible (vision ward, oricals) its alpha is not affected (if it's still fading out it's still fading out, and if it's already faded out it's semitransparent to both teams)
-In other words: both teams see the same alpha a ward when they have visibility of the ward
New behavior:
-When a ward is placed it is visible and fades to semitransparent and then turns invisible.
-If you have vision of the ward (sight ward/oricals next to their ward) when they drop it, the ward will fade to semitransparent (still visible ofc)
-If you didn't see the ward fade out (no orical/vision ward when they dropped it) and you wait until the ward turns invisible:
--When you see the ward with oricals/vision ward:
---if the ward is in a bush it is semi transparent
---if the ward is not in a bush it is completely solid (as if they had just placed the ward)
Basically this means that:
-if you have a vision ward where they warded and were not paying attention, you can know whether you had your ward there before them
-when you obtain vision of an opponent's ward you can't necessarily know whether they have just placed their ward or not (because it is solid and not fading out)
Which basically means:
-idk exactly how these wards are supposed to behave because (for me at least) the behavior I have seen is not intuitive at all
-there is no explanation for how these ward are supposed to behave so without testing this with a friend in a custom game I really have no way of knowing for sure
-there is no explanation for why ward behavior was changed. I never saw a reason to change the old behavior.
