Morde Akali and Kat will be ridic with this item now.

Especially Kat, with DFG even if you CC my ult if it even ticks for like 1 sec I will get at least one kill and stomp the rest of the fight with my passive.

I know someone who already built it on Morde every game. It got to the point where we had to ban him from using Morde in practices because he was too **** good. :x

I remember Guinsoo (or was it Morello?) said that they built Mordekaiser with DFG back when they remade him. Never picked up because of the wasted mana regen and people go stupid picky about that kind of thing, but I can see it becoming popular now.

Mordekaiser should have always been picking up this item anyways later in their build regardless. It synergizes too well with his ult to not grab.

dfg has pretty much always been an amazing single-target burst supplement (not to mention the cdr and fact that it built from a g/10 item). i think the change is less about 'opening up possibilities' and more about reminding people that the item is great.

that's my personal take, anyway.
