Hi, I just wanted to know somethings about the new spectator mode that is coming:

1- Which is the max amount of players that can watch a match?
2- Will the players playing be able to know the amount of spectators spectating? Please make this happen!
3- How will you choose the featured games? Are they gonna be only ranked? Played only by high elo players?

Looking forward to this update!

EDIT!

4- OMG I almost forgot the most important question... Will we be able to watch tournaments like this????? PLEASE SAY YES!
(The only bad side is that we won't have the phreak commentary...)

I'll answer what I can:

1) There is a theoretical limit for most games of 3000 - 10 players, each with a max of 300 friends. We haven't put a hard cap on any games yet.

2) Currently there is no notification. This is for two reasons - first the spectators don't connect to the game server at all. We wanted to keep the game server protected from any spectator stuff going on, so your game won't ever know if anyone is spectating or not. That way if spectator mode runs into issues, your game will not be disrupted. Secondly, we felt it would likely get a little spammy having a message pop-up every time someone joined or left watching your game. We want you guys focused on playing and doing well as possible, not being distracted mid team fight because someone started watching your game.

4) Most tournaments put a lot of time and effort into making sure that they have an awesome stream with great shoutcasters for the show. And larger tournaments like IPL or IEM actually have a lot that they show from otuside the games themselves - interviews and the like. We'd much rather have you guys go watch all that stuff that people put effort into.

Riot, has any thought been put into a telestrator feature? Some of the more recent C&Cs had this built into the game and I loved it.

thats understandable, but would the new spec mode improve the quality of the replay system to something close to the sc2 replay system, where you can see everything on the map (hp etc.) not just what the spectator (/in game player) is looking at? that would be really awesome, and would make casting alot more accessible to the wider community

What about featured games? They won't be friends-restricted, right? Theoretically, a featured game with a very good mix of players (like a CLG vs TSM team game) could easily have 50k viewers or more.

How will it work with streams? Won't new spectator mode totally kill Streamers viewers and therefore income? It seems like a HUGE negative for these players.
