i liked the idea of introducing % based true damage. irelia has always been weak early, and strong mid, then meh again late. they essentially nerfed her mid game as she can't farm into mid nearly as well. making her useless late. giving her % based damage would let her scale into late game and be effective still.
that or buff other abilities. give her more burst potential. reverse the ratio nerf on her E, or return her ult to magic damage, etc
