How does riot like Ground Steriods?

Trundle W

Nocturn Q etc how do you like these abilities and what do you think the size difference means in terms of balance and gameplay added to them.



Just wondering because I'd like to see more of this gameplay explored.

this is just my opinion, but the game seems too mobile for something like a lot of Maokai ults or Trundle ws. People can easily walk out and then you lose the steroid when you're forced to fight outside the area

Trundle's W is "If you fight me in this area, I will win, but if you can pull me off of it, it'll be a much closer fight." Trundle also has the ability to keep you in the area with his E. It's some nice subtle kit synergy.

Nocturne's Q is basically, "I'm rewarded for hitting you, and I'm really good at hunting you down and killing you if I do." He also has this sort of "unstoppable assailant" vibe. He spell shields a CC and if he can stick to you, fears you as well.

There are definitely some interesting things you can do with ground effects. One difficulty is making them look and feel cool (which I think Nocturne does well) while not being too spammy (imagine if Trundle W looked like Singed goo or Malzahar's Null Zone)

I don't feel that Trundle's W is bad, at all in any way shape or form.

Noct Q doesn't seem bad either because it latches to someone if you land it.

So maybe theres something to be said about these abilities and how they have different gameplay and how skill optimization is harder, thats interesting to me.

Sometimes making an entire enemy team run out of a 500 radius spell is the best effect you can hope for. In this case, Maokai R is Janna R on a lower cooldown.

i've had a lot of bad experiences with broodmother

Sometimes the enemy can't run outta it IE baron or dragon fight they leave Team maokai gets baron.

So couldn't you say this to every thread complaining about Grave's smokescreen? I mean its much smaller AoE than Trundle's zone and Maokai's ult.

I think I'm more interested in the possibilities in selfish ground steroids I think the team wide ones are ok but there seems to be something left unexplored balance wise in the more selfish ones.
