i agree ^ it is simply the best route. i dont hate getting it on my jungle or top ( soemtimes ). itll put me ahead in the long run. its like IE or Rabadons. you dont have to get one, but simply it is highly advised.

They aren't a must at all for junglers. If you can get fed off of a few good ganks you can skip them completely. Getting the gp10 when you are getting fed would set you back because you can usually snowball with other items that are more offensively oriented.

I only get the gp10 on a jungler if I plan on upgrading it later or for those who have weaker ganks.

Yes, gold gain items are good on support and most junglers, and many top laners. Is this a problem? No. It's also not universal, btw. There are junglers who don't build Philo and HoG, though they are few and far between.

Anyway, there being an optimal choice is not, in and of itself, a problem. The optimal choice for most AD Carries is boots/3 into a couple of D-blades. Is this a problem? Should D-blades get removed? No. It's just been found, through repeated experimentation, that's the optimal way to do it in most situations.

Most (once again, MOST, not all) AP mids do the same thing with D-rings. Is that a problem? No.

Obviously the boots were a poke at how dumb you sound... I mean, GP5 you dont HAVE to have it. It is there just like any other item because it is there to help supports and in your case jungling. And for me personally I dont ever get Philo's as a jungler, for that matter I dont get any GP5 item as a jungler unless I am doing so horrid that I need the extra gold.

Learn to gank properly or just stop QQ;ing. As Nocturne you should have Vamperic, Boots and then BT, learn to gank and you;ll be surprised which items you can get.

You need them for support, but that's in no small part because they build into awesome support items.

I've not really found them necessary for junglers. You should be getting sufficient gold from clearing the jungler and ganks. If I buy a GP10 item on a jungler, it's because I want one of the items it builds into.

Support/Jungler itemization is nowhere near as stale as AD carry itemization. Berserker's Greaves, Infinity Edge, Phantom Dancer, Bloodthirster, Guardian Angel, Last Whisper/Black Cleaver, gg.
