For every original champ, expect something similar to existing champs or something plain and boring anymore. It won't change.

I have to say that many recent champions where not that successful.. I am a 2K elo player and i get to see what types of champions are picked at the highest level of the game, i find that, baring nautilus and ahri, a lot of champions recently added to the LOL community are never played, ziggs, fiora, sejuani, viktor, volibear even hecarim were labelled as failures at the top of the game. i mean fiora is just a ridiculous champ.. no survivabilty in fights, easily kitable, no CC, she offers nothing more than a reworked master yi to the team. i think that more creativity and utility should be put in the new champs, something that offers more synergy and better combos. Seeing that diablo 3 is out,some serious thinking about new champs and graphics updates should be put to the table.

Hi. I don't think you're stupid :<

That guy was pretty angry and not very reasonable, but I do want to throw the opinion out that lately I've felt new champions' aesthetic and thematic designs to be less interesting and borderline generic. Giving people what they want is awesome. Giving people what they didn't know they want and now really really want is even better.

A great example might be Ziggs, a champion that I believe has done very well by all accounts. He isn't the slightest bit generic and everyone loved him.

I feel like in Riot's effort to bring more mass appeal things have begun to run together somewhat, right down to release skins, which lately have been very similar to the Classic models.

So in other words, I agree that giving people what they want is awesome and I'm really glad Riot does it. I don't agree that giving people what they want means always committing to design tropes.

For the record I think you guys do a great job, but I understand and agree with a few of the criticisms you're getting in this thread and I wanted to try to present them in a way that was less emotional. heh

Weren't Coronach and Xypherous looking to remake Yorick to be the minion master he was always meant to be? Is this still on the tables? Assuming you can answer.

As for your original post a agree completely, I just wish there was a bit more variety in actual races and themes like there was in the original set of champions. I want more sad mummy's, more fire wielding children, more void creatures, more egyptian demigods, more elemental creatures. This year we've seen a bit more more a push in this regards (Hecarim, more Yordles, Viktor) but it still feels like the ratio of human adult champions is still far higher than what it once was and what it should be given this world is suppose to be filled with more than just humans.

Darius, I think, is definitely an example of a champion that will become a lot more interesting once we learn more about him and his character.

Riven (coincidentially, also a Noxian champion), when she was being teased through a Sneak Peek, didn't excite me too much either.
But once her lore and kit was revealed, I started to become more intrigued. When she finally came out, playing her and getting a feel for her character not just through her gameplay but through her dialogue and even animation, her actual character ended up being great. She's got a lot more depth to her character than other champions do; you guys should try reading up on her more.

Darius definitely has the potential to be just as fleshed out a character; the latest Journal of Justice has already revealed that Darius is looking to become the next Grand General of Noxus, and he's forged an alliance with Swain even. What his true intentions are, or what his overall character is that's driving him to do all this, has yet to be revealed, so I definitely think a lot of you guys are just judging too quickly as usual.

You know... even if I'm satisfied with my current roster and I probably won't buy more champions, I'm confident this Darius guy will be fun to play. Riot never fails to deliver.
