And that was adequately conveyed by her lore, judgement, and generally personality on the Fields. There's no real reason that you had to remove one of the roughly two pointed references, those being her second joke (Light mage? I'm just an ordinary mage) and Finales Funkeln (Final Spark), to make her less like Marisa Kirisame. She's nothing like that thief anyway. Heck, even her kit (more utility than raw power) is completely different than Marisa, who prefers power over all else.

Or they could encourage you to find the source of the reference. Or the effect of the reference isn't necessarily important, as long as the game is functional. Those who get it are amused, those who don't aren't affected by a reference they don't get.
Exposing people to references they don't understand is how people have their horizons broadened. I wouldn't have read most of the classic lit I have if I wasn't exposed to references I had no idea about.
