I've never seen that model until just now, but they definitely have some similarities. Perhaps it influenced the concept artist who did the original art for the concept. Actually, the original art concept had it being used for a different concept than we originally had with Urgot. We saw Urgot's concept art and revised Urgot's background on the spot; he was originally going to be the executioner badass his bio alludes him to being, but the beast-man and hextech were two great tastes that tasted great together.

So urgot was previously going to be himself predeath and the current urogot model was going to be used for something else?

That's correct. It's one of those cases where the concept art illuminates an idea that otherwise would have been difficult to visualize. Our artists kick ass like that. I have pretty much zero drawing skills, and it would have been difficult to articulate a concept like that, especially when i wasn't directly thinking about it.

I'd love to see some of the original concept art for him, RiotBabagahnoosh. The current design is great and gives the game variety within the Champion designs. Bravo.

Also, having spider-like legs holding up a larger biomass isn't a new concept within the world of nerds:

Although this may seem a tad off the origional topic, if you have no drawing skills (pencil or water color), would that hinder your ability to model/animate?

Urgot Reminds me alot of the Makron from Quake 4
