Socially awkward people are bad at games?
That's so untrue that the reverse is, in fact, more true.
The majority of the socially awkward are that way as a result of too much devotion to video games.

Have you seen any tournament footage ever?
The players are all extremely awkward during interviews and team presentations (less so recently, because they are gotten used to it)

That's because League of Legends "pro" players are not good. They are average at best, but that's well past the skillcap for LoL, so it's good enough. The top players in games that are actually hard tend to be more normal
