Day 1 of the WCG began with the opening ceremonies for most people, but for fans of LoL, it began with a spontaneous show-match between Team SK Gaming and Team CLG (outside the official competition, which starts tomorrow.) Taking their places on opposite sides of our freeplay area, the teams started to get a feel for each other. Not shy about their secrets, the Germans immediately brought out the big guns (as theyve historically liked to do) with Reyks attack damage Urgot. Not shying away from shocking decisions themselves, the Americans fielded a jungling Alistar, who... got stuck on level 2 because as it turns out you cant jungle Alistar without runes. (Kids, before you rush to your next ranked game and make yourselves unhappy: even with runes, you don't want to jungle Alistar). The game went back and forth until Urgot switched Alistar into the middle of his team, Alistar said ALISTAR SMASH! and while team SK was busy tumbling through the air, CLGs Miss Fortune landed a quadra kill. And that was all she wrote.
Goofy games aside, there was a lot of fun to be had at the Riot booth. Phreak shoutcasted everything that happened, from high skilled showmatches through random people enjoying a game of LoL all the way to the trailer. Yes, Phreak shoutcasted our Season 1 trailer, and it was epic. More epic than it already is.

But this was only day 1! We haven't even seen the first proper LoL game of the tournament. That'll be tomorrow, and you can follow along from home. The first group phase matches should start at 9am. You can watch them from WCG 2010 page, which will switch into streaming mode then.
