We all know how the champions spotlights always come at the same time the champion is out right ?

After all the rage about the changes made to Renekton after making the champion spotlight it kinda makes you think....Why not release the Champions spotlight at least 3/4/5 days before the actual patch release ?
This way you can get feedback from the community and what they think, granted it won't be as accurate as when you play the champ in games but it will help in things like:

1-Evading sudden behind the scenes changes.

2-Adding/Balance/Removing skills that look op.

3-Stop/Minimize raging about new champs because the community helped in the actual balancing.

4-Turning the LoL community from being surprised and shocked at every new champion like it's a monthly Kinder surprise egg to a community who actually participate and helps in making new champions and adding content to LoL sharing the feeling of accomplishment with the whole community and in turn making LoL a game and product everyone can be proud of not just Riot.

Edit: Someone Already mentioned the tight release schedual to which i said "Then delay the release, It won't be the first time and am sure everyone agrees that 3 or 4 days are worth for the pros that I mentioned don't you agree ?"

I think they release it the same day because they work a tight schedual and the champion isn't actually completed until close to the release, so they don't have much time to make the gameplay videos and approve it before the patch comes out.

If you think about it, 2 weeks (10 working days) to make a full champion, means that would have to have the entire champ fully finished and implimented in just 4 days, so they could spend the 5th day creating the (rushed) video and approving it for us early.

Earlier is always better obviously, but I just don't think it's possible in this situation.

Then it's not really a champion spotlight but a tutorial on the champion. We'll already know what he does, already have seen his abilities, and the spotlight will basically be Phreak talking about how he builds the champ.

Honestly, i "love" phreak and all, but i don't much watch the spotlight to hear how he plays, but how the champ functions and what stats may be good for him.

the problem is: they realize too late that the champ needs to be balanced and people who watch the spotlight and don't post in the forum are somewhat tricked

Hehe, so you're saying to delay the release to the next week, so they can have the video out 5 days early?

This means the videos will still come out at the exact same time (2 week period), but the patches will now be at 3 week intervals... I don't think many people would like that.

I personally don't mind the balance issues during the first week, I'd rather be getting updates and fresh content often (though unfortunately the content is always champions) and endure the OP/UP threads, than have to wait an extra week every time.

It's an interesting thought. Our champion pipeline is something that we continually try to improve.

Just for some context on Riots champion development: http://www.leagueoflegends.com/board...60#post4896060

Before we release a hero it is still in testing. We don't want to change the champion right after the video, as players expect what they see in the video and changes are risky bugwize. However design are always striving for the perfect release so sometimes they will make changes last minute if they believe it warrants it.

That is great and agree with the process but all am suggesting is to actually involve the community in what the final product will be which am sure most if not all community is happy to do.

I don't care about Champion Spotlight. I care ONLY about the champion the release state.

The only possible reason for spotlights is to entice people to purchase a champion on release. As such, they need to be accurate. Last two have NOT been. This has led to the community being upset, and I think its justifiable.

I'd like to see the entire spotlight done away with so that people are more inclined to try the hero's and learn for themselves what is good, what sucks, and how they want to play the hero.

Honestly if you just released new heroes without any hype beforehand that would be dandy. I only care about how new heroes effect the way the game is played and the best way for me to learn that is in game. Call me a minority, but I would prefer if the heroes were just developed, perfected, and released.

Edit: If you call me a minority you're a racist
