Forums are tough to deal with on both sides.
The designer gets lots of feedback but has to sift through tons of noise to get the real gems that'll help him do his job.
The posters on the forum never get the impression their idea really mattered or that anyone is listening because there's no way to determine if the designer was thinking of doing their idea the whole time, or if they genuinely turned a gear in the designers head that caused some beneficial change.
The system works best when both parties agree not to be overly hostile to one another as a whole and keep their desire to tell the other to sit back and take a dose of their side of reality in check.
