Why would riot shut down servers on Canada day?

Everyone is coming home from the bars now and wanting to play league of legends. Such an epic Country Canada is and on the most Epic holiday? Why didn't they take them down earlier instead of ruining Canada day for all of us glorious Canadians?

Because the servers are in the USA?

Probably so they can keep them up during the 4th of July weekend since the majority of us will be off then.

Riot is celebrating Canada day by shutting down the servers for a bit... kind of like a moment of silence when someone dies...
