Not gonna rant for long with you because I don't like repeating myself but, the champions I chose as an example are very basic fantasy creatures that aren't only in MOBAs but also RPGs and other RTS games.

Also, most of what we have in league has been seen before, then again, you probably haven't played many games to relate to what I'm saying now.

Bunch of guys running around with huge weapons who escort skinny ladies with ranged weapons, that's the League Riot apparently wants. Well I say nay, good sirs, I say nay!

I want epic battles with monsters, warriors, mages. and whatever else the universe of the League of Legends can imagine up and I want to emphasize the word imagine. Use your **** imaginations, Riot, my favorite champions were imaginative, like Cho'Gath, Mundo, and especially Singed. The Classics, right now we're just getting bland humans with black and white backgrounds, no gray areas. Viktor was interesting because he has a reason to be evil that makes him a tragic villain. I don't care for a generic buff guy who says "Grr, you bad, me good!". Its like what the new Spider-Man movie missed out on, exploring the controversy between Dr. Connors and the Lizard, one is good and the other is bad, but they're both the same person, Jekyll and Hyde.

Think of movies when you're making a character, why did people hate Anakin Skywalker? They though his character was bland, even calling him Mannequin Skywalker. I don't want to get Jayce as he is, but with the skin he's coming out, I'm thinking Space Marines from Warhammer 40k and the personalities they set forth. When I'm charging into battle as Jayce, I won't be thinking of him, I'll be thinking of a Space Marine. Jayce as he is isn't an interesting champion, I won't find myself quoting him anytime soon unless its a sexual innuendo somewhere in there.

I think my favorite part of this thread are the people who are saying the OP's ideas are bad because the characters in question have interesting mechanics, when this is about the aesthetics of said champs.

I read the original post and that's what I was replying to. I didn't not read the 4 pages of responses because they are not the opinions I was interested in responding to.

Post != thread. I didn't want someone jumping on me because I ignored their post in the thread - so I was for-warning readers that I did not read their posts in the thread.

I disagree with the OP, the aesthetic he's championing there looks boring and or ugly to me. In my opinion (and make no mistake, that's all we're dealing here is your opinion vs. mine) those characters look generic, ugly and/or boring.

The LOL equivalents you were pointing out in my opinion are cool, relatable, feel heroic and epic and look unique and that's what I want to play.

I only own two and a half monster champs: skarner, allistar and Volibear ... I only own one "ugly" champ: Urgot (and only because his kit is very cool ... I hate his look though and will buy his cyborg skin as soon as I feel I'm good enough to play with it)

I don't like trolls, orcs, goblins, putrid zombies, monsters, etc and would not play the game if they were my primary choices.

I do have a tendency to like the animated suit of armor type characters like Mordekaiser, Nautilus and Hecarim (although I don't play him because he sucks)

There's a lot of QQ threads about this, but this one I agree with.
