Who assumed they were balancing based on Dominion?

They're balancing the wrong way for SR, anyway. They are balancing based on the meta, and not balancing for the sake of balance.

"Darius can be counterpicked in a 1v1 lane? Oh he must be perfectly fine then."

WW got nerfed to hell because he could lane better than a handful of other champs in a 1v1 situation. Ruining a duelist jungler because he could 1v1. ****ing brilliant. (Fun fact: WW is one of 4 champions in the game who are 100% single target)

Rammus also got hit hard because he could gank well. As a jungler. That was his only strong role. He now sucks at everything on SR.

Meta nerfs. Riot "logic".

Ever noticed how junglers are hit with the nerfhammer that much faster than top lane if they perform their duties too well?

Anywho, back to Jayce: in the long run I see him getting the Irelia treatment: nerf after nerf of early game numbers while still having a fundamentally broken kit. So even though you may not lose the lane every single time to him (he'll probably get beaten by the next OP solo laner to come out) you still feel like a sucker who couldn't have changed the outcome because an anti-gapclosing mechanic on a ranged AD carry that whacks you for a chunk of magic damage is fundamentally screwed up.

I was under the assumption that Riot would not try to balance with Dominion in mind until an updated Crystal Scar comes out.

Just saying, until Riot releases an updated Crystal Scar, they have the excuse of saying "We're re-balancing the map so we don't want to balance for Dominion yet since we know it will all change once we release an updated version of the map."
"Um, couldn't you just take care of the super OP champions on Dominion first?"
"Oh no, the updated version will come very, very soon(tm) so please be patient."

Like the mana difference will even bug Yoricks on SR, dude rushes manamune. As for jayce, can just use w to get all the mana he needs in lane. And of course both won't make a difference on Dom. Seems like they are just changing the characters so they can say they are still balancing before the finals.

Those aren't even nerfs for SR. Jayce is simple a poorly thought out champion with silly ratios and a kit that does too much.

This is way off topic, but you brought up something that has been bugging me. Riot balance for tournaments and in general is a complete joke and honestly, so is LoL as an e-sport at the moment. The recent Dig/Crs aram in a final proves that.

The e-sports scene is the same 15-20 teams worldwide winning everything and tournaments are generally decided by which pro can discover and abuse a broken mechanic to victory. It's a joke really. So called professionals with years of experience at designing champions, but Release Zyra and Jayce still happens. What happened to the spreadsheets ?

Except that the Jayce nerf will double the mana cost for Q when maxed, which it generally is... Yorick already had the ability to run oom, now it will be even more so. And those are just the preliminary changes... we could see more severe if they aren't enough.

The mana nerf is to Jayce E and Yorick W, not Jayce Q. Maybe more people will go QWER on Jayce like I do.

Why nerf Yorick W and not Yorick E anyway?

Jayce nerf will be essentially insignificant for Dominion. It's very meaningful for SR as he won't be able to use it to harass without running out of mana. (Note that the nerf is to his Thundering Blow, not Acceleration Gate - Gate should still be 30 mana.) On Dominion between the mana regen aura and the lack of need to use Thundering Blow to harass (instead Jayces use Shock Blast to harass) it won't make a difference

Mana nerfs to Yorick may actually affect his longevity in bot lane - at a minimum, it'll mean somewhat less ghoul spam early on.
