I know many of you already understand (even if you don't agree with) why the old TT is not being brought back yet. This is for anyone who has not read Riot's response or does not understand why we should not have both maps.
Lets jump right into the nitty gritty question that many people are asking: Why not offer both the new and old Twisted Treeline? I know that many people are pining for the old map and I certainly understand their position; between alters, speed buff, a super powerful boss, and items that perpetuate the AD bruiser meta, the new map can feel like too much was changed and maybe it went in the wrong direction. So why can't we have the best of both worlds and offer both maps?
The easiest answer is that it would split the player base at a time when we really cannot afford to cut our numbers. For quite a while we have been lacking Riot intervention on key issues, the tournament scene and ergo the rest of the world have completely ignored us, and we still do not have ranked solo que. These issues are directly because our group is so niche, we simply have not justified greater priority.
But things have changed. Riot has not only fixed key issues but is also doing their best at pushing us into the spotlight. Yesterday Sam was featured on the main page and garnered over 9000 viewers! I cannot stress enough how amazing this is, not two weeks ago he struggled to pull a few hundred. This influx of publicity and interest directly benefits everyone who is a fan of 3v3s, regardless of map preference.
If our numbers continue to grow, if interest rises and we are deemed credible for a tournament, then the end result is inevitable: updates will come more frequently, things will be balanced more often, and there will be more tournament and sponsor money.
I know that many people are upset with the decision that Riot has made, but please, lend your support. We only get one chance at this, let's make it worthwhile.
