and definitely not in that order
Could switch in Last Whisper for Phantom Dancer, Zerk Boots for Tabi, and Bloodrazor for Infinity edge.

Yi has nothing special about any of his abilities, even Highlander is only moderately decent, as any player with the item load you suggested will own. So, rather than wasting your time making someone who has to hide in the bushes and then jump out yelling "Surprise!" and hope to hell that all the noobs get scared and run (which is the only way Yi gets kills) you should build your Yi to completely counter any carries the other team might have and act as bait for their casters.

The DPS build I use is

Meki->vampiric sceptre->berserker greaves->zeal->phantom dancer->IE->Starks/Last whisper/black cleaver

You can also upgrade the meki and vampiric sceptre at certain points when you bp to base and need it.

Attack speed first then lay on the damage.

No need for mana manipulator.

Zerker greaves, malady, zeal, phage, infinity edge, zeal -> phantom dancer is usually my core and then situational items. Frozen mallet if you are having survivability issues, or just more damage with Last whisper, bloodthirster, black cleaver, bloodrazor, et all.

I go the opposite. I figure that since ult gives AS, I should get damage (since AS + damag > ASx2). Naturally this relies on my ult, but early-midgame yi is pretty lousy without ult anyway. It also makes last hitting easier.

My buildorder though is very flexible on how I'm doing and my needs. I start with meiki + red wine, then try to rush a BF sword and make IE. Then Zeal, Executioner's calling, then PD. Luxury items I guess are things like a bloodthirster or whatever, but it almost always depends on who I'm against and who's the biggest threat.

I often get executioner's calling, vampiric scepter earlier, etc depending on how I'm doing though and who I'm vs, and obviously I get boots somewhere along the line.
