Hi, I have league of legends on my desktop computer, so I've downloaded LoL before. However, I'm currently downloading LoL for my new laptop, but it's taking forever; the estimated time is over 6 hours. I don't remember it taking this long to install on my desktop, i thought it was like, 2 hours max. It says the download speed is 130 KBps, is that normal?

My laptop is an MSI GE60, with 8GB ram.

Just a question, is it your INTERNET that determines the installing speed? Or your COMPUTER?

So is this normal? Does it normally take over 6 hours to install LoL?

Here are a few concepts I want to clarify with you:

Downloading: The process of aquiring the files from the internet.

Installing: Unpacking the files and registering them onto your computer so you can run them

To answer your question, your INTERNET speed determines the DOWNLOAD speed, and your COMPUTER determins the INSTALLATION speed.

130kb/s means your internet connection is very slow, which is the cause of it taking so long to DOWNLOAD.

Ok thanks. I'm just wondering if there was some defect or flaw in my laptop with its internet system. But it shouldn't have anything to do with the computer itself, right.

I just had a Cox representative come out and install my internet and I had this same question because I was ready to jump back into LoL and was suddenly faced with a 2 hour download time when I was running 25 mbps and was only getting roughly 560 kbps download from the LoL website. I am assuming (based on other posts) that LoL limits the download rate from their website because it is a free game and there are so many people downloading all the time that this was the only reliable and consistent speed they could offer.

The Cox guy tipped me off on a site called Speedtest.net that is flippin awesome, it simply gives you a ping rating and a download/upload number, I was averaging 27 ping with 24.5/12 Download/Upload and that reassured me that my modem and internet were working. He recommended doing the test 2-3 times back to back to get a reliable reading in case of some spike in internet activity.

The only thing I can recommend is using something like piratebay.net for faster download speeds, I haven't done my research but I'm pretty sure it is legal since the game is available for free online.
