I had a mana manipulator and a faerie charm in my inventory and the when I bought the recipe it took them both.

Probably the name of the topic thinks your a troll. But I'll help you bump this to help stuff like this get fixed. Also try adding it to the bugs section?

Known bug, I believe. Constructing a recipe will take lower level components even if it shouldn't. I remember it being in the known bugs list in the bug forum.
