If you want Bans, Draft pick is there.
They are trying to balance it, it won't be perfect. If you want to balance it, play Draft.

Draft on Dominion is probably the best pick you have, or anyone has really. That or vs the same team comp of champs again and again in Blind pick.

I just played against your stereotypical 'op' team: jax, shaco, nid, kass, ww. I was shiv and had amumu, eve, lablanc, and gp. We were losing soo bad till mid late game then we somehow made an epic come back at the very end. It was gg for both teams and it was awesome. Its not the champions (well usually) but its the players that decide winning factor.
