Speed is critical in Dominion; champions with high movement speed are already prized, and further than that, physical damage-dealing champions have better item choices for increasing move speed than magic damage-dealing ones.

The only mages/AP built champs you see frequently in Dominion are either ones with movement abilities (Kassadin, LeBlanc, Shaco, Ahri) or slow ones that can stick to the bottom lane and be hard to push off (Heimer, Ryze, etc).

Alternatively, you frequently see non-AP using champions that already have high base movement speed or crazy steroids--Talon, Lee Sin, Gangplank, Irelia, Riven, Rammus, Vayne--easily fitting in Zeal/Trinity Force/Phantom Dancer/Youmu's Ghostblade into their builds, and widening the gap.

How would you all feel about an item combining AP and movement speed? Or AP, CDR and movement speed? Lichbane isn't really a viable choice, particularly early game before you have a decent amount of AP--and especially compared to how useful the early-game AD options are.

If you're suggesting a new item, you may have more luck in another forum.

He isn't suggesting a new item, he is commenting that Mages are at a big disadvantage in Dominion because of their move speed making it so they are unescapable. So you can't kite them while your CDs are coming up.

The Talk of an item is a suggestion of a solution to this problem.

Eh, okay. He definitely suggested an item, but I suppose his reasoning has to do with mages being disadvantaged in Dominion. I'm just thinking while all of us can relate to his problem, no one from Riot is coming here looking for item suggestions. Unless of course they're Dom-only items.

Actually hadn't noticed this trend till you just pointed it out

A mage with high movement speed could run in unload his combo and run out with very little risk to himself. A physical damage champ generally has to get stuck in to engage while a mage does not (because physical damage is generally dps while ap is burst). There has to be a reason the mage sticks around when his stuff is in cooldown.

PD is for carries
Triforce is for bruisers
Lichbane is for mages

Also, mobility is nice but it's not everything. Out of the six highest mobility champs (Rammus, Kassadin, Nidalee, Teemo, Zilean, Udyr) only 2 of them are considered top tier.

I hardly ever see people building move speed items. triforce maybe once in a while and only on specific champs.

Zeal is a cheap and quickly accessible core item that most AD carries, bruisers and tanks can fit into their build, and is part of both Phantom Dancer and Triforce.

Conversely, you only get a movement speed buff from Lichbane when the entire item is complete--costing 3,470 gold--versus Zeal's 1,195 gold cost. And Lichbane is a terrible choice for mages unless you already have a large pool of AP, whereas Zeal is a good early choice. And further, both Phantom Dancer (15%) and Trinity Force (12%) give much more movement speed than Lichbane (7%).

Basically all the top picks in Dominion (that aren't the stay-and-fortify-bot variety) have extremely high mobility, either from high base movement speed, AD itemization or some kind of steroid. A bunch of champions are either pigeon-holed into defending bot (if selected at all) or are never picked, simply because they're cripplingly slow and are at a heavy disadvantage to the top picks.

For a while I was rocking 3 speed boots on all champs and making up for the loss of tenacity MR, armor/dodge, attack speed etc with some other item.

Being able to run at 3 is generally more valuable because I can escape CC (rather than reduce it), avoid damage (rather than mitigate it) and keep up with a fleeing champ rather than get 25 percent more hits in.
