An old unloaded C130 landing on the longest carrier at the time. Impressive sure, but not actually practical.

Nowadays, think something more like a C17 with something like an abrams in it's belly.

The tests were highly successful, but the idea was considered too risky for routine "Carrier Onboard Delivery" (COD) operations. Instead, the C-2 Greyhound was developed as a dedicated COD aircraft. "

If you watch the whole video you will see that they explain that it is possible to do with cargo on the plane. Also OLD? Most C-130's today ARE old. We haven't built one in AGES and they are STILL one of the main workhorses of the airforce. And as for the carrier, we have built 10 nimitz class carriers since which are even larger. Its completely possibly we just don't do it because we don't need to. Just sayin...

I'm well aware of aircraft, i grew up in a lockheed engineer's home. The video was from 1963, and the only time they ever did those landings was during those tests in '63. Neat video I'll give you that, but now-a-days we need to put tanks and heavy machinery on the ground, and we use C17s for that.
