Well hello there Riot and League of Legends Community

Today, this evening, I decided to play a few ranked Solo 5v5s
My ELO is still rather low (Fact being I dont play that much ranked because I enjoy
playing with my IRL friends, of which not all have even reached lv 20 yet) so dont mock me for that.

My first game went rather well, I died 2 quick times on the beginning but recovered from
that quickly and our team had a smooth, well earned victory.

Hoping that luck was on my side I immediatly joined another solo 5on5 ranked game

This time was going to be different.


Right at the banning phase, we had the first ban, our lv 20 captain banned Ryze.
We were all like; Okay.. what?! But thought he might make one mistake, and advised him on the 4th ban.
He ignored us.
Result; Twisted Fate got banned, his arguement: He can be dangerous.
WELL HOLY **** DUDE, THAT SHACO DIDNT JUST FACEROLL US (the fact that three of my teammates were lv 20 counted in too for that faceroll though)

The game went.. rough.. I was ganked right at the beginning by Morgana and Taric,
obviously good teamplay, as you will see on the screenshot below I was playing Anivia.
I was getting a bit greedy on the last-minion hits and before I noticed I was almost at their first (mid) turret. Out of nowhere (or the bushes, I think the latter) Taric and Morgana forced me into my egg and just got that one last hit off that killed me, right before I got around the corner. You know the feeling.

I was disappointed in myself for not paying attention in a ranked game, but I figured I'd recover from this pretty fast. Turns out their Morgana isnt that awesome at all
I force her to recall a few times, but wasnt able to kill her because of the spellshield.

I check the score.

Teamkills: Us 1 - Enemy 9

Okay, not going very well, but perhaps a comeback is possible, our lv 30 summoner Janna (A nice chatty girl/guy) had a double kill and my hope returned, perhaps she could help us through the fights again

My hope got bashed into the ground.
Deep.

Our half-jungling half-dying warwick left, saying "gl hf".
Our Xin Zhao left 2 seconds after, saying "Anivia Janna noobs bb"
And Tristana figured she didnt want to play with all these leavers, and left us in a
5v2 fight.
I got killed two more times, tower dived by 5 people, not much you can do really.
Ofcourse the battle was fought quickly after that, the game finished before 20 minutes.

Now then, all of this wouldnt be that horrible. I lost a bit of ELO but as I said im not a hardcore player and I just enjoy the game, hoping to get a bit higher up.

At the end of the game I discover the horryfying fact that our team captain had a lower
ELO then me (the Anivia) and Janna. This, ofcourse, was the logical explanation for that lv 20 banning the Ryze and TF, he just had to learn the game.

My question is; how can that guy be our teamcaptain, whilst in a Ranked 5on5 Solo Que, the highest ELO (me at that moment) would be teamcaptain? I was confused, so
I turned to the forums, hoping for a red post.

After reading through this whole wall of text, which I appreciate, I'd like you guys to look out for this bug as well, and click "YES" on my poll if you encountered it.

tl;dr Noobs in ranked and a weird-ass team captain bug

If he was duo-queuing with a friend who had a higher elo then both of you, and was the leader of the party, then he would have been given the team captain status. I don't know if that's what happened for you, but that's one possibility.

Oh, okay, I didnt know that you can also Queue with just 2 people in an arranged 5on5. I thought you had to be full. If you're placed into a solo queue if you go arranged with 2 people, I guess that explains it.

it's like when you have over 1200 ELO and some dude with no games played in ranked gets to ban...

I guess it does have to do with duo queuing then

maybe he had a higher elo rating before the match as yourself... then his elo dropt hard below yours because leave + loss...

Actually he left 5 mins before the end (Doh we got pushed down hard) So it didnt count as a leave.

Unless that isnt up for ranked games (you can see on the screenshot his name's in grey, and not red "LEAVER" like Tristana)

Solo queue Ranked is flawed and not enjoyable to play, until you get lucky and get to high Elo, or ofcourse singlehandedly carry yourself 5v1 which is completely viable for the average Joe.

Your whole team was terrible compared to theirs.
4 disables + shaco, not one of you have merc treads, and no counter picks.
I bet none of you had cleanse either.

Riot has got to take more drastic actions against leavers.

One solution would be to implement a *team agrees for someone to leave* feature. Similar to surrender.

Otherwise, if a player leaves w/o team approval, prevent him from playing for 10-15 minutes. If he/she/it leaves repeatedly a xp penalty would be nice. By this i mean remove a good chunk of xp from his summoner or even a de-level.

This will make ppl think twice about rage quiting. It will also allow ppl that have to leave a chance to do so w/o getting punished.
