Hey, I created an account for the PBE and went to download the client today. It went for a little over a minute then immediately finished downloading obviously not complete. I tried to open it anyway to see what was going on and it was all kinds of damaged and incomplete. Any idea why it didn't download all the way? Everytime I try to download it now it doesn't even go the minute, just starts and stops making a new corrupted file.

It is a .rar zip file. Inside are the LoL.exe and the LoLAdmin.exe and one more file I can't remember. Run it it should start downloading everything. In my case what I did was a copy of the Original and paste those files included in the rar to the copy folder and renaming it PBE or something.

When I open the .rar file it comes up with an error message "unexpected end of archive". If I try to run anything it comes up with "The archive is either an unknown format or damaged"
Are you wanting me to copy the Original LoL file and overwrite the files with the PBE ones I downloaded?

Edit: Tried that, can't even extract the files because of the "unknown format or damaged" message

I had this same problem... A friend had to send me just the launchers in a zip that was only a few hundred kilobytes big and I had to download the whole client via patcher. Not sure where he got the download from though, so I can't pass it on.

Maybe someone can post them up on a fileshare site if that's the only fix?

I'm having the same problem.

I looked back through our Skype logs to see if I saw the link but all I've got is where he directed me to the full client download, sorry. If I talk to him in the next day or so I'll direct him here if there hasn't been a fix by then.

and downloaded succesfully the LOLPBE.zip file. I opened it with the default windows browser for .zip files and I got no error about a currupted file.

Where did you find a .rar?

You need to download the .zip, open it, copy all the files it includes and paste them in the folder you want to install the pbe client. That folder must be different from the one you use for the normal client. After that you double click one of the two .exe and you go ahead and patch.

I had the same problem until I was looking on the EUW PBE server forums. This worked for me.
