Pididly’s Log, Entry #1

For the sake of a level of confidentiality that I am required to keep, I will omit the dates of these entries, as well as many of the names of my colleagues in the lab. If need be, you may look at the official reports for each experiment contained in this journal. Note that these are my own personal reflections and speculations on and about these projects. This is in no way an official document; I write this with the intent that I might one day pass on my life’s work recorded in these pages.

Pididly’s Log, Entry #2

I’ve recently had my eye on an ongoing project in the lab initiated by two newlyweds. The project was originally nothing of particular interest; I have experimented with heavily temperature-resistant chemicals, but their substance has distinct organic properties I have never seen before, including even lifelike responses to stimuli, despite not having any distinct physical characteristics aside from its globule, amorphous state.

The lab officials have become interested in their project, too, going so far as to send two representative scientists to supervise their work. Not sure what they have in mind as of yet, but since the project leads have been switching off working late shifts, I suspect the higher-ups have big plans and high expectations.

Pididly’s Log, Entry #3

The couple’s chemical organism has made significant progress – it has developed unique characteristics and properties, in stature forming the relative shape of a small, bipedal organism – a yordle perhaps – and in nature showing what appears to be even human-like emotional responses to various tests, environments, and even people.

The lab officials have taken a strong grip on the project. Due to some snooping around, I found they labeled the project as “Zaun Amorphous Combatant” with the intent of its being used as a new kind of chemical weapon.

The original team does not seem keen on this takeover.

Pididly’s Log, Entry #4

My efforts to spy on the Z.A.C. project have been discovered. Fortunately, one of the representative scientists had to be moved to a different project and they were short-staffed, so instead of getting a cut from the lab, I received the rare mercy of replacing him.

No doubt my transgression will not be all forgotten.

Pididly’s Log, Entry #5

I have had the rare privilege of performing my own tests on the Zaun Amorphous Combatant. Indeed, he is proving to be a most intriguing specimen. After comparing my data to the others, I have noticed some trends that may explain the sentient characteristics it seems to be developing, but there are some oddities, so a conclusion cannot be made with certainty.

I will keep this information to myself for now, until I can perform more tests.

Pididly’s Log, Entry #6

The organism is missing, along with the two project leads. I failed to take into account their relationship with the specimen. Perhaps I should have been more suspicious, as the other representative. I believe my scientific curiosity restricted my ability to foresee all potentialities for the project’s being compromised.

My failure will not go unnoticed.

Pididly’s Log, Entry #7

I have been ordered to conduct research on an entity called Fiddlesticks that was summoned by the rune mage, Istvaan. Given the rumors that surround this being, this is likely my punishment for my recent failure and project breach.

Still, this is a rare opportunity, and I shall not think this to be terribly unpleasant – so long as I leave with substantial data.
