is there a way to move the minimap to the top left hand corner? if not could this be added in future

No, only possible to flip from both bottom corners. I'm guessing this idea of the map being in the top corners is coming from games such as Call of Duty?

yes, via rafmanager, but it is a tad technical -

Use RafManager to update files - note that rightclicking on any folder allows you to search through all locations, much faster way to make changes.
Make sure you run RafManager as administrator, avoids a few potential bugs.

Edit the file: 0.0.0.145/DATA/Menu/HUD/Hud2012/Elements/MinimapRight.ini
change BaseOffset to move as you want it - negative values of X move it left, positive move it right, you get the idea.
