Because, dear boy, perception is but one sense. A good illusionist doesn't simply make you think what you see is truth. No no nooo, tsk tsk tsk. A good illusionist makes you think what you feel, what you touch, what you smell, what you hear, the balance, acceleration of a person, the temperature, the pain you feel, time itself, anything and everything, is real as according to them.
