I've been hearing about wards too, and these guys say they're useful, but I can never find them for some reason. I can't find them under Attack Damage or Ability Power, so I assume they are useless.

I say, don't worry about it. Minion kills mean nothing. If your score is 600-0-0 (like mine), then no one cares about how many minion kills you've got. In fact, I'd say stop putting effort into killing minions and put more effort into killing champs. That might be why your elo is so bad.
