The Germans did not *invent* blitzkrieg. The word was just used to describe their tactical approach to their campaign in Western Europe.

That's right. Ther Germans didn't invent the tactical procedures that stand behind the phrase 'Blitzkrieg', at least not completely. But there were a couple of tactics they developed and which the U.S. Army was very interested in after WW2.

That's why they hired several high-ranked members of the German Military, for example General Franz Halder, who shared his knowledge with them in exchange for not being judged in Nürnberg. The U.S. Army used those tactics in several of their own wars, for example in Vietnam.
