Alright, I need a Ryze-Pro to help me, and everyone else out on how to build Ryze. (i.e. Items/Runes/Ability Upgrade Order/etc.)

The most recent guide on Ryze is like, Dec. 2009, and I am sure some things have changed..

Can someone please give some time to explain Ryze? Thanks so much.

I personally need to know how to build his Runes and to double check on the items typically bought in game in what order...

Ryze in a nutshell:

Runes: CD reduction, Magic pen, Flat health and can either do AP or HP per level
Masteries: 9/0/21
Build order: Spell flux, overload, rune prison, then focus on maxing out overload 1st and rune prison last.
Summoner spells ill usually take ghost and clarity

Item build: Sorc boots, Archangels x3 Zhonyas ring and void staff

Start off with the mana gem 1st and work up to the tear then focus on boots, When you have the boots finish off the archangels, get a void staff then 1 more archangels, zhonyas and another archangels


With this build you will be squishy but you will 1 combo to death most champs. Ability Rotation should be R, E, W, A R first due to the increase AP, E next for the magic pen, then snare and finish off with overload. If this doesnt kill them it will be **** near close and spell flux should be available again to finish them off.

Do not build 3 archangels. 1 at the most. An early Tear of the Goddess is good. After that there are other items that are better like banshees, deathfire, mejais, frozen heart, ROA, Rylais and items that give CDR. A regular ryze does this combo:
Make sure creeps are not close to the enemy
Close the distance
Ult
Rune Prison
Stand next to him
Spell Flux
Overload.
An advanced Ryze hits ult right after his spell flux goes out to lower the cd on spell flux by 1 second, allowing him to cast it twice with one ult.
Ryze is a fragile mage ganker. Very high burst, but his CC is not as strong as others, and he has to be very close to the enemy for spell flux to bounce off of him while doing AOE damage to the enemy every bounce. If you can fully understand Spell Flux, you know how much damage Ryze is capable of.

Okay this is good info. But Fire, if you say not to build 3 archangels, then what is your combo for items? You list some, but not in a certain order..

Focus, thanks for the Runes suggestions. For your build order, do u mean, get Spell Flux to lvl 1, then overload to lvl 1... etc? Or do you mean give spell flux priority until it reaches lvl 5, then overload to lvl 5.. etc?

Currently I am doing this for my item build:
-Sapph Cryst
-Sapph Cryst -> Catalyst
-Mejais or Sorcers Boots
-Mejais or Sorcers Boots
-Then start building Archangels.

Havent gotten past that so far on Ryze.. But what I am noticing is that Ryze is very slow, so I am getting boots before Mejais usually. But is there anything I should change about what I am doing?

maximize rune prison first, spell flux second, then Q. (obviously after ult)
get those archangels staves, as all the extra mana will make your AP skyrocket as well as the damage per mana component on Q.
magic pen boots and runes, flat hp quintessence, and ap per level rest or CD reduction blues but not necessary.

when you wish to kill someone freeze them in place with prison, stand near them if there are no enemy minions around and ult, spell flux Q. chase or hide depending on if the enemy will flee or attack. when your abilities come off CD use them again.

spell flux is always usable twice per ult. as long as youre 9/0/21

start game with mana sapphire and 2 HP pots, you have enough mana to harrass and last until you can buy tear of goddess

Your gimping yourself by playing Ryze. No guide will make you pro, only against bads.
